What causes hair loss?

Genetics are the most common cause of hair loss. You can inherit baldness from either side of your family so don’t blame mom. Therefore, it is important to mention that a hormone imbalance must be identified before embarking on any treatment plan.

Early hair loss in men typically follows certain patterns whether it be a receding hairline or thinning of the crown.

In women it’s usually a little different and they can experience global thinning. Women that braid their hair for long periods of time or where tight ponytails may experience traction alopecia particularly in the temple area.

It also may be a tip off that they have poly-cystic ovarian disease causing hair loss.
